Working on Game Version B2545. Crashes in newer patches plus Manual Transmission mod does not work on latest patch as well.
What this mod does:
- Most of the cars are only slightly faster in a straight line for gameplay purposes. If your looking for realistic high speeds I recommend the mod by Quincunx (https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/arcade-realism-handling).
- Cornering is generally slower, cars can understeer and oversteer.
- Offroading Cars have less grip and slide more.
- Suspension is as realistic as I can set it.
This mod works with Mouse and Keyboard (most of the testing and real time editing was done on the keyboard), but its meant for the Controller to modulate steering, accelerator and breaking.
Update Log:
Version 1.6 (Not Yet Done)
- I play on a heavily modded game (Gameplay and Graphics) and simply cannot update it all to the latest version.
Alot of changes since 1.5 (Steering, Slip Angle, Grip, Installation of this mod, etc...)
Version1.5
-While trying to make it work for latest patch noticed i went too overboard in patch 1.4. Overall grip was increased, and adjusted steering angle at higher speeds. Works flawless with game version 1.0.2545.0
Version1.4
- Finetuning grip levels. Now cars can lose traction at higher speeds through weight transfer.
- Drifting speed is now slower.
- Some Add-on cars Handling files available
- Version 1.3 is more arcade
- If updating replace all the Manual transmission files.
Version 1.3
- Bikes rebalance
- Alot of fixes, offroad, driving ai less prone to accidents and less agressive, planes dont get stuck on gravel, and more. It just works.
Installation:
1 - Install Gameconfig.xml of your game version.
2 - Install Manual Transmission (5.5.1 i use this version) By IKT
3 - Install Inverse Torque 3.0 by Eddlm
5 - OpenIV and Run the OIV. Installer in the mods folder just in case you want to revert the changes (might take some time to assemble the mods folder).
6 - (Important that you) Copy the contents of the folder "Replace" to the game folder.
Done!

@dceve think you can create something like a damage simulator, like going over side walks, crashing, jumping etc... will damaging you car´s suspension, engine, steering resposiveness?
@llamaxus From this mod cars are set up to take a bit more damage already. I can make it more hardcore with the multipliers and even implement engine damage (its present in Manual Transmission) and hitting side walks instead of going over them. I can experiment with that. However from a gameplay perspective you could hit a pot hole and sudenly your on foot.
how do you uninstall ?
@hobi1 I hope you installed the mod in the mods folder if you did, run OpenIV go to update/update.rpf/common/data/materials.dat extract that file to desktop. On top of the program OpenIV there is a search bar, search for materials and replace every file in the mods folder with the one you extracted. As for the handling.meta its located in update/update.rpf/common/data do the same thing.
@hobi1 I'll make a uninstall OIV for the next update some time soon.
thank you, I like what you've done, just hard to use with LSPDFR with the slower turning at high speeds.
@hobi1 Manual Transmission Mod steering reduction is set to (1.17). You can change that via the in-game Manual Transmission mod menu to make cars turn more at high speeds. I know emergency vehicles are a bit rough and i intend to change that as well.
Man I love this handling mod, it feels way better, a bit like BeamNG.drive
@tatawlad im happy that you like it.
Is this mod still working or going to receive updates? Recently installed only this mod and it crashes the game on load.
@bt103504 I'll look into it. I have the game on steam but i made this mod on a outdated version of GTA V. I'll fix it soon for the newer version.
@dceve Does your mod affect ad-on vehicles?
@llamaxus Yes it does. The modified Materials.dat changes grip levels for tarmac, gravel, grass... If your having trouble with low grip on a ad-on vehicle the simple fix is to decrease fTractionLossMult to 1.2 for example in the handling.meta of that vehicle.
@dceve Thank you, I´m a fan of GTA IV driving style, GTA V´s is too arcadish for me.
Been playing a couple of hours now and let me tell you is a day/night difference, driving with your mod is a whole new experience in a good way, is really fun and challenging and the off road handling is really good. Keep it up the good work.
@llamaxus Thank you, have fun.
can I finish the whole game with this?
The game crashes upon stratup with the newer patch :/ do you plan on updating the mod ? really good job by the way this is my favorite handling mod ! keep up the good work
@dceve very awesome mod although there are a few bugs and annoyances, like vehicles exploding when they crash at high speed (fucks with some missions like "I fought the law" and I spotted some vehicles with broken suspension when driven by npcs they are: banshee, benefactor feltzer, Infernus, entity fx all have jumpy suspension which leads to some wacky car crashes I think the explosion problem can be solved by using the vanilla game's health multipliers but I don't know how to fix the suspension problem
@dceve GRAphics mod?
