The fastest "mass"-produced jet in the world and well known even among non-aviation enthusiasts. The SR-71 was a reconaissance aircraft developed by the USA to penetrate enemy airspace and high altitude and high speed to evade enemy detection and/or fire.
It officially served in the Air Force until 1990 (was reactived for a short period later and still flown by NASA).
This version depicts the SR-71A (17972 is the aircraft now located at the Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C., also seen in Transformers 3). The SR-71B was a trainer variant with an elevated,s econd cockpit instead of the photographer's station.
This mod comes as Add-On and as Add-On only. Still, a script for functioning afterburner is included. This aircraft is a lot faster than standard GTA V jets and more agile than the real life jet, but making it turn like brick was wings is boring. The cockpit and rear station both have detailed panels. Rear wheels are realistically depicted with the heat resistant tires (hence the grey/silver color). Rudders, elevators and ailerons are fully working, as well as all landing gear parts.

Like I have said before, I'm really eager to release more aircraft (military/civillian), helicopters and military vehicles. If you like my work and want to see more, please show your support donating. It helps me affording the things I need to continue modding (ZM3, model files, etc)
And thanks alot for the support I have recieved already :)
(And you could keep up with my YT channel to see WIP videos of upcoming mods)

@SkylineGTRFreak I'm not sure where you get your information from but it's completely inaccurate.
The YF-71 was the interceptor design of the SR-71. The previous video I posted is of an actual USAF Pilot who was in the SR program, and does mention the YF-71, along with this also mentions that even after construction, none of the 3 that were built ever took flight. This former pilot mentions the differences between the SR-71A, SR-71B and SR-71C, and the C variant was NOT a mashup to replace a crashed aircraft. Please, before you quote information that is highly inaccurate, do some research. Watch the video, it will clear this all up.
- Note of the day: Wikipedia should not be used as factual evidence when it can be altered or edited...
Among one of the best aircraft I've seen hands down. Any plans for an A-6E Intruder on the horizon?
@orion13622 you have one YouTube Video and use that as a source? And then say Wikipedia is not credible?
Doesn't matter, you can look up official government, NASA, whatever sites. Literally search for "YF-71, YF-71 Interceptor, SR-71 prototype, SR-71 interceptor, Lockheed YF-71" and tell me if you get ANY results of a YF-71. It simply wouldn't make sense either. If you already have an interceptor (the YF-12) which the SR-71 is based on, why make another?
I don't blame this guy, but he probably just jumbled the designations YF-12 and SR-71 together.
Also, google tge SR-71C with Serial number. Even the AFB where it's displayed talks about its history. Being a replacement for a B Trainer consisting of two fuselages.
@orion13622 I am planning on doing more Vietnam until early 80s aircraft including A-6E, F-105, F-4E and more. I just don't when I will have enough time for that.
@SkylineGTRFreak Hey if you're looking into more Vietnam era aircraft, I have a special request (uncle was a pilot for this) the F-100 Super Sabre...
and in regards to the Interceptor, you are correct, it is the YF-12, not YF-71. My mistake.
Psst the blackbird isn't the fastest jet in the world. The Avangard reaches speeds of Mach 27)))
@SkylineGTRFreak it would be possible to have an update with multilivery support (maybe...via decals?) or at least down decals?
@Avantgarde22 Lol, that's just Russian propaganda. They're way too poor to build something like that.
@NYYPinstripes *Dwight gif* False.
@Avantgarde22 That's not an airplane, it's a guided missile. Get your pro Russian shit out of here.
no one said airplane, it says Jet
I suppose the US does have the fastest jets.
Love the design, but it's painfully slow.
Good compatible with alt:V!
@SkylineGTRFreak Please add the bombing facility like that in the f117 nighthawk
The SR-71 is not the fastest jet. The fastest (manned) jet aircraft in existence is the X-15 with a top speed of 7,274 km/h, 4519 mph, Mach 5,8. The Blackbird is 3,745 km/h slower than the X-15. The speed record the X-15 achieved has remained unbroken since 1967 and it's still the fastest manned aircraft to date.
It is also possible that the A-12 Oxcart is the fastest but that is unknown since the CIA is keeping almost everything about the plane top secret.
Still a nice model, but as an aviation enthusiast, claiming the SR-71 is the fastest is an insult to me lol.
@SkylineGTRFreak Do you think you could make the x-jet from this model aka just make the black bird vtol and more seats?
@Luchtleider the X-15 wasn't a jet mate, it was a rocket-powered aircraft.
also, the X-15 wasn't the fastest manned aircraft, but the fastest powered aircraft.
the fastest manned aircraft was Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-2, which reached 28,000 km/k (17,500 mph)
HELP!! I need this plane for my next mission, but when I put landing gear back in plane my game freeze and crash. Anyone know how to fix? (This happens with every other modded aircrafts I have)
how do i get the afterburners to work 😭😭 im probably a huge idiot for this but i put the cs file in scripts folder and it didnt change anything so my blackbird just doesn't have afterburners
