Note: You must have ScriptHook V and OpenIV installed, including the OpenIV.asi script.
You can get them from here:
http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/
http://openiv.com/
This 'mod' replaces all the 'interactive music' (ie. the 'score', or the mission soundtrack / background music) with silent .wav files. It's simple but effective, increasing immersion in the game tenfold. So far no side-effects have been discovered (and it does not affect the radio music), but I still suggest you make a backup of your INTERACTIVE_MUSIC.rpf before installing in case of corruption (or in case you want to play online - remember to always play online using a vanilla copy of GTA V, or else you will be auto-banned!).
Enjoy.

Zenarchist.

Amazing.
@Zenarchist
Hey, this mod isn’t working for me. The “INTERACTIVE_MUSIC” file gets updated to the stock version whenever I start the game launcher. I used Open IV to copy the file, or the ‘drag-&-drop” method, but the file is always updated to stock. Also, I have the latest ScriptHook V, and the OpenIV.asi script you provided.
no i understand sometimes when im playing into the game and hear that background music increasing and playing while im trying to enjoy the game. it happens ok so very cool option just keep updated
1.5MB Download but file takes up 3GB when extracted :d
thanks
nice mang
If you use shorter WAV files, you can greatly reduce the filesize. I've had Silent Soundtrack (https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/silent-soundtrack#comment-448042) up for a while, and it's only 110 MB.
One thing I couldn't figure out, however, was the wanted music. Any chance you'd mind sharing a list of the tracks you modified?
@fouzberzerk Link please.
All this work and you can just place an empty .rpf there and it does the same ;-)
@fouzberzerk Oh yeah, it didn't remove wanted music, how is that more complete? it was called silent soundtrack.
Works as advertised, thank you!!
great job. But You should make all the background music silent also make in cutscenes. Like e.g. in Daddy's little Girl mission.
Thanks.
Any way to do this without scripthook so it could be used online?
Can't believe rockstar can be so retarded they ban people from using mods like this one that doesn't give any advantages.
Works with GTA V 1.0.1180.2 but causes at least infinite loading screen for one mission of Michael. And unfortunately not possible to find with OpenIV what sounds were made silent, since open the awc files of the rpf file, makes it crash.
I had the same problem as @beurk
I really wanted this mod to work but the first mission I tried to do after installing gave me infinite loading screen.
I'm not sure how many missions it fucks up but it was one of the earlier ones. I don't know if it works in freeroam because I deleted it before testing that.
@beurk
@dreamru
I've been playing through the game with this mod, and so far it has caused an issue with only 2 missions:
Marriage Counseling (house never gets pulled down)
and
Dead Man Walking (infinite loading screen)
Other than that it's worked fine. If I run into any other complications I'll post them here.
i like the quiet while flying and use submarine... but the music sound on
I need a backup does anyone got it?
anyone who downloads this should have their gaming privileges revoked. this game's score is incredible and you all know it
