@rygamer - Oh yeah, I eventually started keeping multiple mod and script folders with versions that I verified worked. Now I have mostly every mod I want to play with and it is working good, I've had two crashes after maybe 15-20 hours of game play. I think in both cases it was cause I left the game playing for too long on a weekend.
@palerider - My crashes occurred with just casual driving around. My routine was a medium paced drive around the whole map. Thanks for the info. Right now I'm playing without WOV. I'll give it a try again if the mod author is still working on it.
So I spoke too soon. While I was able to get past the infinite loading screen, the game crashes after about 10 minutes of gameplay. I narrowed it down to WOV as the cause. Credit to the author for correctly noting that the mod doesn't work right now thanks to the recent GTA5 update.
Well somehow, I got it to work. Prior to my previous post, I had put the 4x traffic gameconfig.xml in both /GTA V/mods/update/update.rpf/common/data and /GTA V/update/update.rpf/common/data/ using OpenIV with edit mod on. I don't think you're supposed to do that. I verified the integrity of the game files through steam. Steam downloaded 1 file, I'm not sure which file it downloaded. I then deleted the gameconfig.xml from /GTA V/mods/update/update.rpf/common/data and then drag and dropped the 4x traffic gameconfig.xml back into that directory. Loaded the game and it actually worked. I only have WOV installed so far and I verified at least the gangs are loaded.
Very strange. In the last few days, since Friday January 15th, I've been adding mods for GTA 5 to play it again. At first I broke something, reinstalled the game and started over, that was Saturday night into Sunday. On Sunday I was able to get WOV to work and had a bunch of other mods installed like NVR and other highlighted in a realistic GTA 5 youtube video uploaded by Just Gesha. On Sunday I did get the infinite loading screen with WOV but I realized I was missing the heap adjuster and pack file limit, also got the latest gameconfig. CScenarioPoint was causing the game not to load at all, so I had to drop that. With that set up, and only installing WOV at first, I got it to work. Then I proceded with installing other mods, testing after each install. Everything was going well until last night when I installed the wrong mod which conflicted with another similar mod, relating to pickups. Then after trying to uninstall that mod, testing worked but after closing the game, getting some dinner, coming back, I got corrupt data. I've now isolated it to the mods folder, so maybe I did something wrong with the uninstall. So now I'm going through and reinstalling the mods I know work but now I can't get WOV to work again. Strange that apparently it should have never worked for me? But it was working just a few days ago. Weird. I'll keep trying some things, and will post again if I find something that works.
